Cat Missing For 6 Years Comes Home After Surprise Reunion

Six years ago, Monkey Face wandered away from home, leaving her family to wonder where their dear cat had gone. As days turned to weeks and weeks to months, Monkey Face remained missing, and her family had to move forward with her whereabouts remaining a mystery.

Then, a surprise phone call years later reunited the family with their lost cat, a microchip making this miracle come to life.

Tales of missing cats like Monkey Face are ones often heard. Sadly, these stories end in mystery or misery again and again, but microchips have the power to rewrite a sad ending into a joyous happily ever after. These tiny miracle-makers have brought us the news of so many happy reunions after years of families lamenting and cats wandering. But, it’s crucial to keep contact info updated to make these homecomings possible.

Monkey Face Found, Family Searched Out

When Monkey Face went missing, the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services shared, “Her family never thought they would see her again.”

But a call to Animal Care Services about a sickly cat put the wheels of reunion into motion. ACS Officer Perez responded to the call, and, as protocol dictates, he scanned the tabby cat for a microchip. He learned the kitty he’d picked up was named Monkey Face.

Seeing her listed as missing on the microchip registry, Officer Perez headed to the address listed, “but her people didn’t live there anymore.”

Perez brought the cat back to ACS for love and care while also hoping the team could search out sweet Monkey Face’s family. But, like the address, the additional contact info was no longer valid. The animal lovers of ACS weren’t deterred in the least, though.

“We didn’t stop there; our team continued researching and worked hard to get in contact,” explained ACS. “After almost two weeks, we found Monkey Face’s mom!”

Receiving the call, Monkey Face’s mom “couldn’t believe it and almost thought there had to be a mistake.”

“Could this really be her cat that has been missing for six years? It sure was and the reunion was PRICELESS! It was easy to see the joy they had cuddling after such a long time.”

Seeing this happy reunion, ACS said, “These stories touch our hearts and reassure us of the work we do.”

Update Your Microchip Information

If you’ve ever had a microchipped cat go missing, never give up hope. A day could very well arrive when a surprise phone call finds you regarding your missing darling. This is why it’s essential to keep microchip registries up to date with any phone number, email, or address changes. Those tiny updates could make the biggest of impacts.
