A 3-week-old ginger tabby was given a second shot at life at Paws N Claws Freedom Rescue Society. His mother was unable to care for him after he was born as a single cat.
Danica Floto, a rescue foster volunteer, took him in and began bottle-feeding the singleton, Ranger Rob, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The small tabby had his foster parents wrapped around his little paw in no time.
“Ranger was an adorable kitty. He loved to be carried about in my sweatshirt, which I wore backwards for him, or curled up in Foster Dad’s armpit, so his feet seldom touched the earth. He was a pampered kid, to say the least “Love Meow was recounted by Danica.
“He recognized my voice and awoke as soon as he did.”
Ranger would cling to his friends like velcro, napping while snuggling up to them. He was tiny but energetic, with a larger-than-life personality.
Ranger focused on being the center of attention or being cradled like a baby to soak up all the attention.
When the cat saw Foster Dad on his laptop, he didn’t hesitate to give some “assistance.” He’d saunter over to the keyboard and start clicking away with his little paw pads.
Danica had another litter of kittens in her care at the moment, and they were excited to meet Ranger. They clicked straight away, and the ginger youngster was pleased to find friends his age with someone he could roughhouse.
“It was really beneficial to his progress. He was off the bottle, using the litter box, and no longer wanted me to kiss him in front of his friends in just two weeks!”
Ranger, the strongest of his team, demonstrated how to be an office cat to the other kittens. He taught them the art of lap hogging and that the cats always had the nicest bed in the home.
When it came time for adoption, Ranger was promptly adopted by a lovely family.
Ranger (now Rusty) has found his permanent home, where he will be joined by two older fur siblings, Luna the cat and Titan the dog. The timid bottle kitten has grown into a brave, wild, and affectionate young feline.
Rusty has already taken over as home supervisor and is always curious in what his people are up to.
“He’s waiting to be picked up and placed on the counter in the bathroom so he can watch what’s going on when I’m getting ready in the morning. He’ll crawl up my leg if he isn’t lifted up “Rusty’s mother, Chandre, spoke out.
With his unrestrained energy, he keeps his fur siblings on their toes as he scampers about the house, getting zoomies at strange hours.
“He WWE wrestles Luna from all angles, creeps up to Titan and jumps out to terrify him, but Titan (who is frequently asleep) doesn’t even notice.”
The kitten has an insatiable hunger and eats like there’s no tomorrow. “He eats from his plate, then Luna’s, before returning to his.”
Titan, his canine pal and sleep partner, is his favorite.
