Ron Williams from Sturgis, Michigan, initially met Fluffy – an adorable cat – a few years ago, when an old friend of him introduce them. It was love at first sight, and the army veteran decided to adopt the homeless cat straight away. Since Ron was living alone, he soon became very attached of his furry companion.
“I looked at him and hey, I just fell in love with him,” Ron explained.
The man used to take care of his cat just like he was his own child, and he even used to talk to him, like a lot. But mostly, he was keep saying him a repetitive phrase every time when the phone rang.
“The phone would ring, and I would say ‘ring-a-ding,’” Ron said. “And I didn’t know he’d pick up on it.” But little did he know this phrase will eventually save his life!
It was a regular morning for Ron and Fluffy, when something terrible happened. The 84-year-old man was getting out the shower when he slipped on the wet floor and remained laid there for nearly 16 hours. With his phone in the bathroom, but too far to reach it, though, and his Life Alert in the bedroom, the hapless man cried in agony without a chance to call for help.
But then something amazing happened, with Fluffy stepping up and saving his human’s life. As it turns out, the concerned cat realized something was wrong, so he eventually understand what Ron asked him, and brought him the phone!
“So I said ‘ring-a-ding Fluffy, you’re my only hope,’” the man explained, in tears. “And he was. It wasn’t even five minutes later I felt something hit my hand. And I’m here because of it.”
After Fluffy brought him the cellphone, Ron was able to call 911 and helps arrived within minutes. The old veteran fully credits his cat for saving his life. “What if he wouldn’t have been in there with me? I’d be gone today,” he said. “He’s my hero, and he always will be.”
