When A Woman Ssks The Shelter For The Cat That Has Stayed The Longest, She Discovers A Deaf Cat Waiting For Her

A woman visited her local shelter in the hope of adopting a cat.

“I asked which cat had been there the longest, and came home with a deaf, toothless, senior lovebug.” Bridgid said.

Bridgid Staub of San Antonio, Texas, returned home earlier this year following a month-long therapy. She felt something was lacking as she started a new chapter in her life. “I felt like I was missing something. After much deliberation, I decided to visit my city’s animal services shelter to see if I might connect with any of the cats there “Love Meow was told by Bridgid.

She visited the staff at City of San Antonio Animal Care Services and asked about a cat that had been there the longest. “Cali was immediately pointed out to me by the lady.”

Cali was a stray that was taken to the shelter. She was found to be completely deaf and, based on her few surviving teeth, to be a senior.

“She was a lovely calico cat with beautiful green eyes. She quickly let out a very loud and unusual sounding’meow’ as she was allowed out of her cage. For the first time in a long time, this made me grin “Love Meow was told by Bridgid.

Bridgid turned on the faucet when the cat went directly to the sink and meowed. “She focused her attention on me when she took a sip of water. She headbutted my hand until I petted her, after which she curled up and lay down, relishing my scritches.”

Bridgid knew she’d found the ideal cat at that time. Cali, who had had a solitary existence, clung to her human and purred nonstop.
Cali finally left the shelter a few days later. “The first night, she didn’t sleep at all. She was so worried about her new surroundings that she was hyper-vigilant “Bridgid remarked. “It was as if a light had been turned on the next morning. While I was on the couch, she snuggled up on my lap and went asleep.”

The lovely cat knew she had arrived at her destination. Bridgid told Love Meow, “Ever since then, she has slept through the night (just next to me and occasionally sharing my pillow) and has been the biggest cuddlebug.”

This elderly, deaf cat has a lot to offer.

Bridgid told Love Meow, “She brings so much pleasure into my life, and I am so glad that I decided to adopt.”
“This is such a cliché, yet it is so true for me… By adopting her, I may have saved her life, but she has also saved my life!”
