โWe named her Hope and she was found in a village,โ Ermioni later said. Hope was hurt by a wire snare trap that โhumans place around the villages for wild pigs.โ
The Good Samaritan who found her cut one end of the metal wire but Ermioni marvelled at how the other end was frayed and cut through. Did the dog chew it? Hopeโs rescuers will never know but itโs not the first time theyโve found dogs ensnared by these nasty wire traps.
Hopeโs gash around her neck was pretty gruesome but the vet treated it and did multiple surgeries to clean and close the wound.
Two weeks later, Hopeโs surgery was a success. What a relief!
Hope is still scared and will be for a long time, says Ermioni. Thatโs because even though her physical wounds are healing, the wounds of the soul take a long time.
But Hope already looks more at ease in the familiar yard and she will have someone looking after her. Says Ermioni, โShe is safe. Our job is done.โ
