Welcome home, SWAT Cat!
Boston police are celebrating the return of their resident kitty, who re-appeared on Thursday after being missing for over a month.
This adorable cat had wandered into the Boston Police station as a stray three years ago, and the officers had her spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped, adopting her into the team. They also made sure she felt right at home, keeping her crate (with a heating pad!) and her food bowl at the station to use at her leisure. Nicknamed the SWAT Cat, this cheeky calico likes to sprawl atop armed police vehicles and wind herself between officers’ legs as she keeps them company.
When the SWAT Cat went missing in November, the officers were afraid she wouldn’t come back after wandering out into the big city. They had even put out a public plea three weeks after her disappearance, asking if anyone had information on her whereabouts.
The Boston Police department is thrilled to have her back, a few pounds lighter, but otherwise healthy.
“The team is very excited, very happy that she’s OK…You never know what could happen in the city so the fact she returned safely is wonderful,” Boston Police Department spokesperson Rachel McGuire says in an article by NBC Dateline.
