The Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) are sending shelter cats to prison, but don’t worry, it’s for a very good reason! They have a program in which inmates are paired with stray cats, they call it the Pawsitive Prison Program.
In this program, the inmates at the Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women take care of the shelter cats and give them the attention that they need. This way the cats are also socialized, thus preparing them for adoption.
In return, the cats give the women friendship and companionship. It’s a win-win for everyone!
