Moved by Eliza’s plight, Chow shared the photos with her friend Lois Chisholm, who then posted about Eliza on Facebook in the hope that someone would come across the post and decide to adopt her. Describing Eliza’s personality, Chisholm wrote, “[She has a] very puppyish, playful spirit.”
All she longs for is a loving family to call her own.
Eliza, a sweet dog with a gentle soul, found herself at the City of San Bernardino Animal Services a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, her time there has been far from enjoyable.
She dreams of the day she can snuggle on a cozy couch or frolic in the great outdoors with her future family – a sentiment shared by the shelter staff who are eager to see her find a forever home. Tired of being confined to her kennel, Eliza decided it was time to make her feelings known to everyone around her.
Alice Chow, a regular visitor to the shelter who photographs its animals, possesses a keen eye for recognizing special pups. Upon witnessing Eliza’s endearing attempts to connect, she knew she had to help this lovable dog find a home.
“Eliza couldn’t stop wagging her tail and whining to get my attention,” Chow told The Dodo. “She made sure I saw her. She wanted so much love from me. The only clear photos I was able to get were of her sticking her head through the broken kennel gates so she could get closer to me.”
It seemed as if Eliza had been trying to break free from her kennel to experience the joys of playtime on her own terms. Chow was captivated as she watched Eliza nudge her nose through the bent bars of her enclosure, desperately seeking attention. This heartwarming sight melted Chow’s heart instantly.
Chisholm’s post provided all the necessary information for adopting Eliza, and now all she can do is wait, hoping that someone will soon help Eliza break free from her kennel for good and welcome her into a loving home.
