Rescuers battle lightning stσrm tσ save abandσned German Shepherd sisters

For three days, rescuers searched for the scared dogs. They battled the elements to try to get these pups to safety.

It’s frightening to stay inside while a lightning storm is occurring outside. Outside seclusion is terrifying.

Now picture yourself as a dog who is outside during a lightning storm and has nowhere to go or shelter to be found. Simply horrifying,

Thora and Levina, two abandoned German Shepherd sisters, experienced exactly that.

A few days prior, Katelyn Mannion, Kim Reid, and Fiona McClintock from Pets Lost And Found Fermanagh received a tip about these two abandoned dogs that were stumbling around the vast Fermanagh County roads.

Although they could see where they were from a distance, they were unable to reach them quickly enough because the dogs were frightened of people.

Katelyn Mannion told The Dodo, “We were feeling a little deflated as we couldn’t get close to them, and we just wanted to bring them to safety.

It will be more difficult for them to locate the two dogs because of the lightning storm that tore through the sky.

They looked for three days and found nothing, leaving them feeling hopeless. A local farmer eventually gave them a tip that the dogs had entered one of his outbuildings. As soon as they could, the rescue team arrived on the scene and located them.

The dogs wouldn’t let any of the three women near them because they were frightened of people.

“After some gentle coaxing with food, these two lovely girls allowed us to approach and secure them. They were both very hungry, and one of them suffered some wounds, but nothing from which we don’t anticipate a full recovery, according to Pets Lost and Found Fermanagh’s Facebook post.

The two dogs are appreciative that the rescue team didn’t give up looking for them even though they don’t quite trust humans yet. If they were ever found, who knows?

Katelyn continued, “It was a very strong, overwhelming feeling of pure joy and excitement. “We were just so happy to have them in a secured area. We were still very concerned for their welfare. Several tears were shed, without a doubt.

They will undoubtedly cry some more because Lost Paws NI offered to cover their veterinary bills. Additionally, Little China Dog Rescue has offered to provide them with a temporary residence while they await adoption. Wow!

Levina was the Latin word for lightning, and Thora is the name of the Scandinavian thunder goddess. incredibly symbolic names And the two have done a great job adjusting to their foster homes.

Even humans have been allowed to rub their bellies!

Although they remain wary of people, their foster parents are working one-on-one with them to help them regain their confidence and trust in people.

In addition to the wonderful organizations that assisted in giving the two dogs a new and better life, we are grateful to these wonderful people who never gave up searching for them.
