Golden Retriever Saves Owner Life After He Slipped On Ice And Bʀᴏᴋᴇ His Nᴇᴄᴋ
People say, “Dogs are the only creatures in the world who love you more than themselves.” This sentence may be a bit absolute, but the bravery and wisdom that the dog Bʀᴏᴋᴇ out when his owner was in danger was really moving. One Golden Retriever has proved why dogs are really a man’s best friend.
A man Bob, unfortunately, slipped and fell on the ice in front of his house while trying to get a piece of wood. He called for help but no one heard him because his closest neighbors lived about a quarter of a mile away and it was late in the evening. However, his friend, a dog named Kelsey, was present and stayed with him for nearly 20 hours.
With the temperature so cold, the Golden Retriever helped his friend stay warm by lying on top of him, licking his hands and face all night. Bob kept calling for help but by morning he couldn’t scream anymore, he had lost his voice but Kelsey kept barking to get attention until a neighbor heard her.
Thanks to his smart, loyal friend, Bob was discovered and quickly rushed to the hospital. When he arrived, Bob had symptoms of hypothermia, in addition, the doctors diagnosed him with a ʙʀᴏᴋᴇɴ neck that required surgery. He had surgeryto repair two ʜᴇʀɴɪᴀᴛᴇᴅ discs that compressed his spinal cord and resulted in paralusis. But a day after surgery, he shocked everyone when he began moving his arms and legs.
“He was very fortunate to have survived the circumstance of being in cold weather and having a warm body sustain him for that period of time,” said his ɴᴇᴜʀᴏsᴜʀɢᴇᴏɴ Dr. Chaim Colen, who noted Bob’s pinched spinal cord could have cut off his breathing. Bob is now fully recovered and can play with his friend. Kelsey became Bob’s hero because it saved his life.
