The best friends of man are dogs, but who are the best friends of dogs? Evidently, purple unicorns are made of stuffing. Recently, the tale of Sisu, a 1-year-old pit bull who was ᴀʙᴀɴᴅᴏɴᴇᴅ, went viral. Sisu made numerous attempts to ʀᴏʙ this Dollar General of a plush unicorn. The shop owners kept sending him out, but Sisu persisted and always came back, heading straight for the unicorn plush toy.
Samantha Lane, an officer, got the plush purple unicorn for the dog when animal control came to take Sisu away. Sisu then voluntarily followed the police. The officer who responded to the call purchased the unicorn for Sisu and made sure he could have it at the shelter. The county’s animal services posted the news on Facebook, which has since gone viral and prompted tons of ʀᴇᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴs from dog lovers everywhere.
The dog spends all of his waking hours with his toy because he is unable to be separated from it. The staff at the shelter think it’s because Sisu had a comparable toy or one just like it when his owners owned him. Sisu and his favorite toy were adopted and given their permanent home after Sisu’s post went viral!
They wrote: “Animal control was called to put you up for your B & E and ʟᴀʀᴄᴇɴʏ, but the officer bought your item for you and took it in with you, they wrote in the post. “This is what happens when you consistently break into the Dollar General to sᴛᴇᴀʟ the purple unicorn that you laid claim to.”
Photos posted showed Sisu laying down and enjoying his new unicorn. The shelter described the pup as “very obedient with people” who knows how to sit, lay and heel. Raleigh photographer Shannon Johnstone, who works with ʜᴏᴍᴇʟᴇss animals and highlights county shelters’ ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ efforts, documented Sisu’s affection for his unicorn companion.
