Hope For Paws received a call from someone who noticed a German Shepherd trapped in an industrial lot with no way out. She must’ve wandered in when the gate was open one day, but now it was closed. Lisa Arturo and JoAnn Wiltz headed out to rescue her.
Some neighbors said the lot was not used often and most likely wouldn’t be opened up again for days. So rescuers tried getting ahold of the property owner, but he wouldn’t be available until the next day. Without food and water, the dog had become very dehydrated and was now starving. But they left food and water and promised her they would be back the next day to save her.
The next day, the owner showed up and let them in. And there Elsa was awaiting her rescuers! They noticed a deep cut around her neck and a limp, so they decided not to use a leash. Once in the crate, Elsa was transported to the hospital to be checked out.
The wound was from a collar that was once embedded around the dog’s neck, and it turned out her foot was broken. But now, she’s happier and healthier than ever at her foster home with Wags and Walks! If you’d like to adopt Elsa, you can contact them here. 🙂
You can donate to Hope For Paws to help them rescue more dogs like Elsa!
