A STray Cat Sits On A Window Sill And Begs To Be Let Inside

For over a year, a stray tabby named Carlton visited the same window each day. A young teenager who lived in the house spotted him, and during his visits, gave the hungry cat whatever she could spare

When Carlton started entering the house, it was clear he was ready for an easier life.

Later, in May, the young man overheard Carlton sobbing outdoors and saw a cut behind his ear. She was aware that she couldn’t abandon the nice cat on the street, especially since he was knocking on the window and pleading for help.

She then asked Little Wanderers NYC for assistance along with her sister.

“It’s been the worst rescue season on record — we used to say it every year, but this time it’s really true,” Lisa Scroggins, cofounder of Little Wanderers, told The Dodo. “We’ve never received so many rescue requests for kittens, moms and sick and injured animals.”

Carlton was left with Scroggins by the family, who then took him to the veterinarian. The veterinarian examined Carlton’s ear and found that he had FIV, a virus that is frequently seen in stray cats, particularly males that may get into conflicts over food and territory.

Although Carlton’s diagnosis won’t have an impact on his health with the appropriate therapies, Scroggins was aware that it would be more difficult to find him a family because it is a common belief that cats with and without the FIV virus cannot share a household.

Carlton deserves a second opportunity at being a family pet more than any other street cat, though. The kind, kind boy only wants to cuddle up and get affection.

He will headbutt or flop on your lap until you give him pets with every single person he has met so far, according to Carianne Loughlin. “He simply adores people so much. It’s really cute.”

Carlton would thrive in a household where he would receive a lot of care and would either live alone or with another female cat. However, Carlton is not too choosy when it comes to individuals.

He warms up quickly, likes everyone, and is quite cuddly, according to Loughlin. “He is a large lad as well. He resembles an enormous cuddly mountain lion.”

While Carlton’s future is still uncertain, one thing is sure — whoever adopts him will be very, very lucky.
